Planning a Summer Trip: Thailand

"The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page."
-St. Augustine

This summer Matt & I are planning a trip to Asia for two weeks! We have some friends who live in Bangkok, Thailand and thought we would use the excuse to "visit them" in Asia. Sounds like a wonderful place to catch up with old friends doesn't it! If you follow me on Pinterest, you will see that my boards have been overflowing with pictures of Thailand.

If our flights work out as I hope, we will end our trip in Beijing, China for 4-5 days. The main reason for going to China is to mark something off my bucket list: Walk on The Great Wall of China. I hope the trip I have planned out in my mind will fall perfectly in to place (in a perfect world...).

There are so many amazing things I want to see and do in Thailand. Below is just a glimpse...

I would love to hear advice anyone has about traveling to Thailand. Recommendations anyone???

  1. Thailand is amazing! Take a canal tour in Bangkok to escape the busy streets. Make sure you see the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun. The weekend market in Bangkok is fantastic! You can get pretty much anything you could want for wholesale prices. Spend the day there. Go to Chiang Mai in the north if you have time. It has beautiful temples and great shopping. Book a sleeper train from Bangkok there and stop in Sukkothai for a day if you're into history. There is a really nice old city there. I am jealous that you're going to China too!

  2. I'm so excited for you two! This sounds like it'll be the most amazing trip ever. It's so refreshing to hear about people planning a trip to a not-so-typical place like Asia! Can't wait to hear more about your planning!

  3. shut up!!! you have no idea how excited i am for you! i want to walk on the great wall of china sooo bad!!

  4. Ahhh... I am so excited for you!! That is amazing!! It's on my bucket list to walk the great wall as well :)

  5. oh my goodness i am so jealous and so excited for yall!!! it will be amazing.

  6. This looks like an incredible trip! Can't wait to see the pictures and hear all of your stories! Good luck planning...do as much as you can;)

  7. Oh Thailand's Amazing! I highly recommend taking planes. I did the bus/boat/train thing and it eats away at your time. I recommend staying in Bangkok as little as possible. It's really a big dirty city and there are street markets and temples all over the country. I can't recommend Chian Mai enough, it's wonderful. I brushed my teeth while watching elephants take their morning bath. Then find an island that fits your needs and fly there. Spend a day on each side of the journey in Bangkok and you'll have a perfect stay. Good luck!

  8. I love that quote - it's one of my favorites! I went to China a few years ago and still can't believe I was actually walking on THE Great Wall of China. It's so surreal. Thailand is definitely on my list of places I'm dying to visit - I've heard amazing things from all my friends who have gone. And tasting authentic Thai food?! It doesn't get any better than that :)

Thanks for stopping by and saying hello!
