If Salon Walls Could Talk

Hello lovely blog readers,

I am going to start a weekly post called "If Salon Walls Could Talk". Most likely all you ladies have a wonderful hairstylist that you go to and have eventually opened up about your life's up and downs. I'm sure a few of you have been sitting in the styling chair and watched some pretty crazy stuff go down around you at the salon . If you have any stories, I would love to hear them! Please email me: Karibailey07@gmail.com and I will post your story with a link to your blog on an upcoming post.

After owning a salon for 7 years, dealing with the public, and running a salon and the disasters that come with that on occasion, I've got some awesome stories! Of course I'm not going to share anyones personal business, or name any names(to all my customers who read my blog.... YOU ARE SAFE). It will just give the general public a glimpse into the life of salon owner and stylist. Should be pretty hilarious!

A little history on how I got into the salon industry...
When I finished high school I knew traditional college was not for me. I wanted to study a specific trade. I had always loved the idea of working at a salon and spa but little did I know I would end up owning one in the future!

I went to Massage Therapy School first and after school I began to work at an amazing salon in my hometown. I worked there for about 2 1/2 years and built up a pretty large clientele thanks to the salon owner I worked for who helped me along the way.

With about 3 years of salon work experience under my belt I began to think of opening my own salon. I ended up opening the salon with a partner in 2006, but bought out her half two years later to become the sole owner. For the first few years of owning the salon, I was only a Massage Therapist. I went back to get my cosmetology license in 2008 and it was the best decision ever. I truly found my niche with doing hair.

It will be 7 years this October 14th since I opened my tiny salon. When I look back at where we were compared to today, it's amazing to see how much it has grown. We are now a very busy salon and I am thankful to have 10 wonderful girls working for me.

I am so excited to share with you some of the life experiences I have had being a salon owner. It's been quite an interesting ride, to say the least!
